I am a product of my environment. So are you. We are all molded and shaped each and every day of our lives by outside influences, some subtle, and some not so. Each of us differ in some way, even though we may have been subjected to the same influences, but absorbed them differently. So I guess if some of you wonder who to blame for me being me, you’d have to look no further than my parents and grandparents. For example:

My mother taught me that you might not be able to avoid having holes in your clothes, but there is never an excuse for being dirty. That sunk in. I am 60 years young and my jeans and shirts are always clean, well starched and ironed. I’ve even been known to wear starched shorts and shirts on fishing trips.

My father taught me to be nice to every one on your way up. You might need them on your way down. That sunk in. I’ve been up and I’ve been down several times in my life, and I’ve found this to be one of the most important lessons that I learned. I’ve also learned that it’s a lot more fun to be up than down. My father also taught me that a man was only as good as his word. That sunk in too. I don’t give my word freely, but when I do, I do every thing in my power to keep it. I think that the world would be a better place if everyone did.

My grandmother taught me to trust everyone until they gave me a reason not to, and then to give them another chance, and then another if necessary. She believed in the essential goodness of the human spirit. That sunk in, because I do too.

My grandfather taught me to love children unconditionally. He taught me by the example he set, and it sunk in. I have learned that children can give you the greatest sense of fulfillment and almost at the same time make you want to pull their little hairs out. Raising kids is like being pecked to death by chickens. I now understand what my elders went through in the process of raising me. What goes around comes around and Kathy and I pay for our raising every day, so to speak. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I just hope that our progeny will think of us someday in the same manner that we recall the memories of our loved ones that have passed on. I always smile when I think of the old folks. That is their legacy to me.

The purpose this letter is to reach out to you. Reach out to let you know that when you choose to do business with our company, you will always find a neat, clean, professionally dressed real estate professional waiting to serve your best interests. You will find a REALTOR that will put your interests above theirs, an agent that you can trust, and a person that will treat you with the courtesy that you deserve. Let this sink in. You can believe in us. I give you my word on it.
